OCT 16 The HAM1 record (pictured below) got a pretty awesome review, check it out here! Here's an excerpt: Athens’ psych-damaged melody makers Ham1 are preparing to release their third full-length, The Underground Stream, due out this fall, with an LP slated for an early 2009 release on Infinity Cat Records. Each song on the album hangs in a balance of instrumental melancholy, lazy/nasally crooning and acid-drenched textures that take shape in a cerebral, psychedelic pastiche. It is precisely this balance comfortable atmospheric fugues, lingering melodies and a noisy take on traditional songwriting that give the record so much character. 5 Stars Awesome. Go see MEEMAW play at AGAVE TEQUILA LOUNGE in Nashville tomorrow! And early voting has begun. make your voice heard. GO VOTE! OCT 14 Coming soon to iTunes! lindsi weaver "ah-coo-stick" . 6 new lindsi gems! More on this later. OCT 8 Great story in this weeks Nashville Scene about the move toward vinyl right HERE. A sample: "It probably won't take 10 years, though. Local label Infinity Cat—home to JEFF the Brotherhood, MEEMAW and Skyblazer, among others—recently decided to forego CDs altogether for major releases. While that's partly an aesthetic choice, it's also a practical one. "When our bands are on the road," label head Robert Ellis Orrall says, "vinyl outsells CDs 10-1." And while he's not taking that as a bellwether for the music industry as a whole, he says that "for our audience—for the Infinity Cat niche that we fill—those kids want vinyl." " Speaking of The Scene, we forgot to mention our favorite entry in their "You Are So Nashville ..." issue. Here it is: "You are so Nashville if you're in a band founded by one of the Orrall brothers". And someone just emailed this nugget from a while back: “The Infinity Cat label is looking like a blue-chip stock, while their two-man prog-punk project JEFF The Brotherhood is shaping up as one of the city’s most exciting acts. The proof’s in their killer no-frills video for “Noo Sixties,” which pushes the edge for how maxi something can get and still be called minimalist. Don’t miss ‘em, unless you’d rather wait for Spin or MOJO to rubber-stamp them first. It shouldn’t be long.” How'd we miss that one?
OCT 6 The Deli Magazine says "The debut release for Nashville noise partnership Reid & Wright is coupled here with another sampling from widely appreciated duo JEFF the Brotherhood on a limited edition cassette tape entitled Jamaica, released by Infinity Cat records. As is typical of their releases, nothing here is typical. "Side Blue Ocean Breeze" is Reid & Wright, with 3 tracks of ominous, looming noise to make your mouth water. Think of their side like a Tootsie Roll Pop - the exterior can be a bit abrasive, peaking with trebly squelches and fuzzy freak-outs, but just beyond the surface there are tidbits of sweetness with beats no doubt as danceable as any you've heard, and there are plenty of licks to get to the center. "Side Bauhaus Gold" is JEFF the Brotherhood, with an extremely unorthodox sound. Largely comprised of psychadelic guitar swoops and synth arrangements, these 3 tracks were clearly created with some sort of substance in mind. Each track is like a journey, with a lot more landscape and a lot less pop than the Brotherhoods' previous efforts. Oh, and LOTS of whammy. While a bit more noodly than some listeners might expect, the tracks are definitely noteworthy and indicative of a much different musical direction for the JEFF camp. This limited edition cassette (limited to 100 copies) is a definite foray into the unusual, but a necessary one if you can get your hands on it. The pairing makes perfect sense and might open up some unknown corridors of musical sweetness in your mind. You can obtain a copy at any Infinity Cat shows, or by visiting their website. You can also check out both bands with The Screaming Females and MEEMAW on October 2nd at the End. - Jesse Baker" SEPT 26 We're proud to announce that we will release the vinyl version of Ham 1's great new album, The Underground Stream in early 2009. It's a blend of surf rock instrumentals, sleepy vocals, and surrealist lyrics, as Willingham is joined by the usual Ham1 suspects: Eric Harris (Elf Power, Olivia Tremor Control), Jacob Morris, and Chris Sugiuchi, with additional contributions from Lucas Jensen (Venice is Sinking) and Jason NeSmith (Casper & the Cookies), who helped engineer the album. And while you're waiting to see that beautiful artwork on a 12" record cover, for a limited time you can download the entire album for free right now at Ham1’s website. SEPT 24

photo: Steve Cross Well, in case you did miss it, here's what The Scene said about it: "We’re not sure if it’s technically possible for two bands to date each other, but if any pair of caps-lock-friendly local acts have made a love connection this year it’s JEFF and MEEMAW. The two have consummated their union with endless touring, habitual local gigging, and their conjoined effort Saigon Baby (a.k.a. Wizardz) who took the stage as the third act on the bill. By this time, the yard had amassed a healthy crowd of folks who gathered around the dark stage, lit only by a single lamp light, as Saigon Baby—accompanied by the spattering white noise and glitchy whirring of noise duo Reid & Wright—combined the droning, motorized, muscle-bound riffs of JEFF with the angsty pop sensibilities of its better half to create a spacey fusion of Sabbath, Hawkwind and Redd Kross." AUG 27 Don't miss Saigon Baby (aka Wizardz) at Local Honey August 30th at Local Honey. It all starts at 8pm.

9/11 SKYBLAZER 9/12 INFINITY CAT NIGHT EXIT/IN NASHVILLE, TN Come to Nashville Tennessee USA for Next Big Nashville! See Skyblazer at the Exit/In on Thursday 9/11. Then on Friday come back to the Exit/In for Infinity Cat Night, with Cake Bake Betty, JEFF The Brotherhood, Meemaw, Royal Bangs, Reid and Wright and more surprises! Free cheese sandwiches! Here's what they said about last years show: "It was a big drunken haze and it was hella attended as Infinity Cat showcased at The End. Cake Bake Betty’s set, was, rife with eerie backing vocals and chanting—but that’s all in the Infinity Cat instruction booklet. “Oklahoma City,” played with a full band, was a shining highlight. JEFF The Brotherhood rounded out the night with all the trancy repetitive jam stuff that makes us love JEFF. The crowd worked up as heavy a sweat as the band, thanks to the quasi-mosh pit that endured for the majority of the set. Yes, it was the indie rocker version of a mosh pit, so it was a little timid, but amusing all the same, and their heavy, A.D.D. rock ’n’ roll left nothing but a trail of sweat and resin behind them. Alongside Whirlwind Heat member Brad Holland, Powell and the Orrall brothers also comprise the riff-oriented, ’70s prog rock-influenced and fantastically named Skyblazer. Skyblazer is heavy Hawkwind and Sabbath-inspired psychedelia tribal, squelchy psychedelia. They easily out-Hawkwinded Eaglebreeze’s opening night set of long, heavy psychedelic prog riffs." -NASHVILLE SCENE AUG 21 Let's all go and see The Mattoid with Dave Cloud and Ham 1 at the Five Spot. Saturday August 23rd! We all saw JEFF The Brotherhood the other night. The Scene said: JEFF the Brotherhood got all the kids a-rockin' and a-bumpin' into each other up front with a set of hair-shaking and drop-D riffage. We thought so too.

Did we tell you MEEMAW's "Glass Elevator" is the Deli Magazine's Album of the Month? Yup. Here ya go: Summer is finally here. School's out, obligations are at a minimum and everyone is ready to cut loose. Infinity Cat's newest band MEEMAW couldn't have picked a better time to release their debut album, Glass Elevator. MEEMAW has been around for a while now, winning over locals with their fast-paced garage punk rock, and they finally stepped up and recorded an album. Although Glass Elevator only contains eight tracks, MEEMAW doesn't disappoint. In fact, I have never had an album revitalize my love of the Dirty South like Glass Elevator has. Each song is like a small anthem for the different aspects of life as a Southerner-red meat, smoking, sweet tea and shotguns. The album's guttural roars and fuzzy guitars capture the adrenaline of the band's notorious live performances perfectly and make you want to sucker punch whatever's around just because. Glass Elevator's scorching energy never lets up, but the abrupt conclusion of this all too short and sweet CD leaves you wanting more. Glass Elevator is only $5 and comes with a free 7" vinyl as an added bonus. So face it: if you live in Nashville, there's really no reason not to own this album. Get the beer and light up the grill. MEEMAW has created the raucous, youthful soundtrack for the summer. - Madison Conger JULY

TODAY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO VOTE FOR MEEMAW FOR NASHVILLE'S BAND OF THE
MONTH!. PLEASE TAKE A SECOND AND DO THAT HERE!
OKAY, LET'S GO! JUNE 23 MEEMAW gets 3 and 1/2 stars: The eight (mostly self-recorded) songs on local band Meemaw's art-punk gem Glass Elevator sound like someone slipped something psychoactive into Minor Threat's Coca-Cola, meshing old-school punk charge and tough-guy husk with lo-fi adventurism, trippy lyrics and a surprising dose of melody. The results are strikingly unique, but more importantly, they're incredibly catchy. Don't be surprised if you find yourself singing along to lyrics about bear traps, bald eagles and Lou Diamond Phillips by the second spin of their anthem "Cancer of Society." (The Tennessean) JEFF The Brotherhood's new vinyl review by The Deli: "When it comes to JEFF the Brotherhood and Nashville, there are two kinds of people: those that love their music and those who haven’t heard it yet. If you are in the former group, you most likely already own this album; if you belong to the latter, then stop reading this and go buy it right now!" Catch the rest of the review here. And while you're there, check out The Deli's Album Of The Month: Glory Holy by The Mattoid!

All the hip uber-cool ego-tripping new yorkers were there and the line to get in was way down the street. we hung out in our brown bus right in front of the venue. unfortunately, there was a big sign and a policy of absolutely no photography inside! I guess to protect the celebrities who show up.But Michael was allowed to photograph JEFF The Brotherhood as they were playing. There was a dj with ridiculous bass that made me feel as if my lungs were going to explode! Jacob, the guy who put the show together, asked Jake and Jamin to go on as soon as possible, so they did! And the amount of power behind their sound was awesome! They totally blasted into the scene and hammed it up for everyone, getting all into the stage presence. It was great! They got the beautiful people to dance and maybe headbang a little." (pic by KAHAN) JUNE 1st Next 2 shows for MEEMAW AND JEFF The Brotherhood are June 4 MEAT TOWN USA w/ Screaming Females and Cheeky, 215 Hamilton St., New Brunswick, NJ, June 5 DEATH BY AUDIO w/ Coin Under Tongue and Sisters, 49 S. 2nd St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY MAY 31st MEEMAW AND JEFF The Brotherhood enjoyed a great crowd at Rumor's in Richmond, VA. My trial version of dreamweaver expired so I am back to making updates on the desktop at the office. Does anyone want to donate their dreamweaver disc!!?? WIZARDZ played on sunday with JAPANTHER and The Pharmacy and got a great writeup in the Nashville Scene: "Had we known it would be around 10:45 before Wizardz would get things started at Springwater Sunday night, we wouldn't have shown up until a bit later. Better late than never, the gentlemen who normally comprise 3/5 of JEFF The Brotherhood and Meemaw combined forces as Wizardz to crank out some greasy, full throttle, psychedelic, muscle-bound punk rock. For a Sunday night, the boys brought out a crowd that was impressive in size and disorder. Folks were thrashing about with reckless abandon while the band cycled through extended instrumental jams that occasionally offered some gang-vocal interludes. While the lyrics weren't quite decipherable, song titles such as "Sexual Reality" and "Sexual Galaxy" gave us plenty to contemplate." -The Spin And we have two releases (BOTH ON VINYL!) coming out on Monday May 19th!!!! There will be a show/party at THE END for MEEMAW "Glass Elevator" and JEFF The Brotherhood "The Boys R Back In Town" and both bands will be playing plus a special guest! So come on out, buy a record, and have a party with us!!
