9/11 SKYBLAZER 9/12 INFINITY CAT NIGHT EXIT/IN NASHVILLE, TN

Come to Nashville Tennessee USA for Next Big Nashville! See Skyblazer at the Exit/In on Thursday 9/11. Then on Friday come back to the Exit/In for Infinity Cat Night, with Cake Bake Betty, JEFF The Brotherhood, Meemaw, Royal Bangs, Reid and Wright and more surprises! Free cheese sandwiches! Here's what they said about last years show: "It was a big drunken haze and it was hella attended as Infinity Cat showcased at The End. Cake Bake Betty’s set, was, rife with eerie backing vocals and chanting—but that’s all in the Infinity Cat instruction booklet. “Oklahoma City,” played with a full band, was a shining highlight. JEFF The Brotherhood rounded out the night with all the trancy repetitive jam stuff that makes us love JEFF. The crowd worked up as heavy a sweat as the band, thanks to the quasi-mosh pit that endured for the majority of the set. Yes, it was the indie rocker version of a mosh pit, so it was a little timid, but amusing all the same, and their heavy, A.D.D. rock ’n’ roll left nothing but a trail of sweat and resin behind them. Alongside Whirlwind Heat member Brad Holland, Powell and the Orrall brothers also comprise the riff-oriented, ’70s prog rock-influenced and fantastically named Skyblazer. Skyblazer is heavy Hawkwind and Sabbath-inspired psychedelia tribal, squelchy psychedelia. They easily out-Hawkwinded Eaglebreeze’s opening night set of long, heavy psychedelic prog riffs." -NASHVILLE SCENE

AUG 21

Let's all go and see The Mattoid with Dave Cloud and Ham 1 at the Five Spot. Saturday August 23rd! We all saw JEFF The Brotherhood the other night. The Scene said: JEFF the Brotherhood got all the kids a-rockin' and a-bumpin' into each other up front with a set of hair-shaking and drop-D riffage. We thought so too.

Did we tell you MEEMAW's "Glass Elevator" is the Deli Magazine's Album of the Month? Yup. Here ya go:

Summer is finally here. School's out, obligations are at a minimum and everyone is ready to cut loose. Infinity Cat's newest band MEEMAW couldn't have picked a better time to release their debut album, Glass Elevator. MEEMAW has been around for a while now, winning over locals with their fast-paced garage punk rock, and they finally stepped up and recorded an album. Although Glass Elevator only contains eight tracks, MEEMAW doesn't disappoint. In fact, I have never had an album revitalize my love of the Dirty South like Glass Elevator has. Each song is like a small anthem for the different aspects of life as a Southerner-red meat, smoking, sweet tea and shotguns. The album's guttural roars and fuzzy guitars capture the adrenaline of the band's notorious live performances perfectly and make you want to sucker punch whatever's around just because. Glass Elevator's scorching energy never lets up, but the abrupt conclusion of this all too short and sweet CD leaves you wanting more. Glass Elevator is only $5 and comes with a free 7" vinyl as an added bonus. So face it: if you live in Nashville, there's really no reason not to own this album. Get the beer and light up the grill. MEEMAW has created the raucous, youthful soundtrack for the summer. - Madison Conger

JUNE 23

MEEMAW gets 3 and 1/2 stars: The eight (mostly self-recorded) songs on local band Meemaw's art-punk gem Glass Elevator sound like someone slipped something psychoactive into Minor Threat's Coca-Cola, meshing old-school punk charge and tough-guy husk with lo-fi adventurism, trippy lyrics and a surprising dose of melody. The results are strikingly unique, but more importantly, they're incredibly catchy. Don't be surprised if you find yourself singing along to lyrics about bear traps, bald eagles and Lou Diamond Phillips by the second spin of their anthem "Cancer of Society." (The Tennessean)

JEFF The Brotherhood's new vinyl review by The Deli: "When it comes to JEFF the Brotherhood and Nashville, there are two kinds of people: those that love their music and those who haven’t heard it yet. If you are in the former group, you most likely already own this album; if you belong to the latter, then stop reading this and go buy it right now!" Catch the rest of the review here. And while you're there, check out The Deli's Album Of The Month: Glory Holy by The Mattoid!

GET READY FOR SOUTHERN LAIG OF BAD BUS TOUR. GO SEE JEFF The Brotherhood, MEEMAW, ROYAL BANGS, A

JUNE 6th

Road report: "the V Mag show in Manhattan was crazy. Like amusing, but weird. All the hip uber-cool ego-tripping new yorkers were there and the line to get in was way down the street. we hung out in our brown bus right in front of the venue. unfortunately, there was a big sign and a policy of absolutely no photography inside! I guess to protect the celebrities who show up.But Michael was allowed to photograph JEFF The Brotherhood as they were playing. There was a dj with ridiculous bass that made me feel as if my lungs were going to explode! Jacob, the guy who put the show together, asked Jake and Jamin to go on as soon as possible, so they did! And the amount of power behind their sound was awesome! They totally blasted into the scene and hammed it up for everyone, getting all into the stage presence. It was great! They got the beautiful people to dance and maybe headbang a little." (pic by KAHAN)

MAY 14th

Long time since last update! My trial version of dreamweaver expired so I am back to making updates on the desktop at the office. Does anyone want to donate their dreamweaver disc!!??

WIZARDZ played on sunday with JAPANTHER and The Pharmacy and got a great writeup in the Nashville Scene: "Had we known it would be around 10:45 before Wizardz would get things started at Springwater Sunday night, we wouldn't have shown up until a bit later. Better late than never, the gentlemen who normally comprise 3/5 of JEFF The Brotherhood and Meemaw combined forces as Wizardz to crank out some greasy, full throttle, psychedelic, muscle-bound punk rock. For a Sunday night, the boys brought out a crowd that was impressive in size and disorder. Folks were thrashing about with reckless abandon while the band cycled through extended instrumental jams that occasionally offered some gang-vocal interludes. While the lyrics weren't quite decipherable, song titles such as "Sexual Reality" and "Sexual Galaxy" gave us plenty to contemplate." -The Spin

And we have two releases (BOTH ON VINYL!) coming out on Monday May 19th!!!! There will be a show/party at THE END for MEEMAW "Glass Elevator" and JEFF The Brotherhood "The Boys R Back In Town" and both bands will be playing plus a special guest! So come on out, buy a record, and have a party with us!!

I WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUNCE A SUCCESS! THE INFINITY CAT PARTY ON MARCH 12TH WAS A SUCCESS! GOOD JOB EVERYBODY! HERE IS SOME PRESS FOR THAT SHOW IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, THERE WAS A PRETTY GOOD COMMENT WAR WORTH READING. ALSO HERES WHAT THE NASHVILLE SCENE SAID ABOUT WIZARDZ AFTER THE SHOW:

"There’s a fine line between a brave devotion to rock ’n’ roll and the downright stupidity that prevents fleeing to safety, but we obviously fell in the former category, sticking around to catch Wizardz. (Others exercised a little more common sense and bailed while the roads were still navigable.) There was still a healthy-sized mob left, eager to catch this new collaboration between members of minimalist DIY sibling-rock duo JEFF and local basement show faves Meemaw. What they’ve come up with is a dream catcher-adorned, muscle-toned mix of punk, classic rock and a little Southern working-class camp value thrown in for flavor. It’s quite possibly the perfect soundtrack to blare from your restored Camaro, speeding through a sunny afternoon in Smyrna while sporting an ironic handlebar mustache and matching trucker hat."
